SELKIRK—Shop Till You Drop at Wilson MacDonald Memorial School Museum had a great turn out despite the snowy weather this weekend.

Admission could be donated canned goods, a toy, or monetary donations. After a steady flow of over 170 people and donations, Santa will deliver three care baskets to families in need. Dana Stavinga, Museum Curator, said, “No family should have to go without at Christmas…. If we can give back that’s very important.”

This event was a little different as the vendors weren’t present. Attendees could peruse items and bring them to the front to pay. While last year the event was held in a different location and with vendors, the move to the museum and tagging the items with prices is a return to how the event was run in the past.

This craft sale is put on by the volunteers from Friends of the Wilson MacDonald Memorial School Museum. The event was originally set to run from November 18 to November 20, 2022. However, due to the uncooperative weather they decided to extend the event into Monday and Tuesday in hopes that those who may not have made it on Saturday would have a further opportunity.

“People have been really responsive,” said Stavinga.

Karen Salvalaggio, one of the volunteers, added, “I was so surprised (Saturday) that people came out in that weather.”

Stavinga encouraged residents to keep supporting local when gift buying.
