CALEDONIA—In the lead up to this holiday season, consumers have been encouraged to shop locally to support businesses in their communities. A video recently released by the Caledonia Business Improvement Association (BIA) entitled “The Tale of King Jeffrey and the Towns People of Caledonia” shares this message and serves as a fun reminder of the value and impact of shopping at home.
The development of “The Tale of King Jeffrey” began when Kathy Marshall, Coordinator of the Caledonia BIA, received the audio recording from Reg Weaver at 92.9 The Grand. Upon hearing the recording Marshall says, “I absolutely loved it! Loved how the request to shop local was executed in a humorous, lighthearted way. Loved the ‘everyone is fine and wins in the end’ message.”
As she listened to the audio, Marshall imagined King Jeffrey in a storybook setting. She approached Zoe Aul, a grade 12 student at McKinnon Park Secondary School who is currently doing a co-op placement with the Caledonia BIA. Knowing Aul is interested in a career in video production, Marshall thought, “What a perfect time to take The Grand’s audio and turn it into a video for social media!”
