Entered into rest on Sunday, November 19, 2023 at the Stedman Community Hospice in Brantford, ON, in his 77 th year. Beloved husband of Peggy (deceased) for 46 years. Loving father to Chris (Andrea) and Brad (Stacey). Papa to Sydney, Ethan, Tyler, Lucas, Ryan, Caylie, Liam, Owen, Bentley, Aislynn and Evan. Predeceased by his parents James and Phyllis. Brian is survived by his siblings Kay Curley (Raymond) (Larry, deceased), Don (Jayne), Marlene Hoover (Bob, deceased), Charlene Walsh (John, deceased), Joan Van Groningen (Wayne), Mary Ellen, John (Kym), and Gerry (Lori). He will be fondly remembered by his in-laws, John (Doreen), Jean Fiddament (Paul, deceased), Jim (Marilyn), and Mary Gordon (Drew, deceased). Brian will be sadly missed by his many nieces and nephews, extended family and friends. A memorial service will take place in the MILLER FUNERAL CHAPEL, Caledonia, on Thursday, November 23, 2023 at 2 p.m. with visitation beginning two hours prior, at 12 p.m. A Celebration of Life will follow at the Cayuga Legion, beginning at 3 p.m. Brad, Chris, Stacey, and Andrea would like to  to sincerely thank all of our family members for their care and support over the past year and allow our dad to live his final year at home where he wanted to spend his final days. We would also like to thank his palliative care team in Brantford with a special acknowledgment to Jenna, whom our dad loved to see and banter with during her visits.

May 13, 1945 –  November 16, 2023 Passed away peacefully at Parkview Meadows, Townsend. Dear wife of the late Frederick Gary Rogers (2018). Beloved daughter of the late John and Dorothy Toulmin (Niagara Falls). Dear sister of Janet (David Devine), Diane and John. Special Aunt to Ruby Rojas and family (Midland, Texas) and Eliza LeClair and family (Burnaby, BC). Susan was a 32 year employee at the OHIP office in Hamilton, a ten year volunteer for Haldimand- Norfolk CAS, and a volunteer driver for Haldimand-Norfolk Senior Support. Thank you to the wonderful caregivers at Parkview Meadows and dear friends who visited with kind words and flowers. Cremation has taken place. 1928-2023On November 18th, 2023 Joyce (in her 96th year) passed away peacefully in the night.  She is survived by her husband Robert (Bob) Matthews, children Tom, Susan and Betty (Brian) and grandchildren Brian (Julie), Kevin (Beth), Janelle, Ian (Taralyn) and Matt, and also her treasured great grandson Layton. Joyce was born in New Toronto but raised in Cayuga.  After graduating nursing (having been awarded the Florence Nightingale award) she traveled the province with her husband’s work.  She was an avid knitter and loved to sew, quite the traveler and was very active in the senior’s community. She enjoyed her cottage life on Lake Erie and was a great fisherwoman. Donations to Children’ Wish Foundation would be appreciated. A very special thank you to the staff at Norview Long Term Care.  She thought you were the best and you are. There will be no visitation but please feel free to pass along your remembrances of this wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and friend. 1939 – 2023 Dear friends and family know, that Pat the daughter of the late Hughie and Grace McGoldrick, passed on Friday, November 17th. Mom of the late Jeannie-Marie, April (Brad) Bird and Lyle (Robin) and wife of 27 years to the late John Lightfoot. Proud grandmother of eight grandchildren, Beau, Cody, Isaac, Kaycee, Loretta, Paisley, Rosemary and Thomas. Mom enjoyed being the official calf feeder on the family dairy farm and how that life made her and her children appreciate the farming industry. Pat was also an active volunteer, always passionate about the care of seniors and was proud to be recognized as VON volunteer of the year. She was forever grateful for the friendships and people she met with her involvement with the Senior Support Services, elder abuse, 1996 plowing match, wood lot association, Haldimand Stewardship Council, Habitat Haldimand, Alzheimer Society, Catholic Women’s League and Saint Vincent de Paul. Mom took pleasure sitting out by the water at her cottage on Lake Erie, singing, listening to music, the piano, and the great joy and comfort that her dogs Sammie, Josh, and Pepper gave her . Above all it is important to remember the strong, tough, stubborn Irishwoman she was all of which drove her passion for goodwill and devoted love. Great care was given to her during her two year residency at Grandview Lodge, by the Bridgeview PSWs and RNs and Dr. Kamouna for which the family is forever grateful.  Funeral Mass was held on Tuesday November 21, at 11 am at St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Church, 201 Alder  Street West, Dunnville.  Interment Hagersville Cemetery. (known as Mr. Pat) Passed away peacefully into the loving arms of his Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ surrounded by his loving family Thursday, November 9, 2023 in his 76th year after a courageous battle with cancer. Beloved husband of Pat Allen (nee Orford) for 55 years. Loving father of Karl (Sandra) and Kevin (Jodi). Proud grandfather of Carly (Brendan), Hannah (Nick), Sarah, Amanda (Jesse), Eric, Josh. Great grandfather of Mya, Maverick, Liam, Jaxon. Brother of Bill, Dorothy, Kathleen. Brother-in-law to Michael, Chris, Barb, Suzie. He will be missed by Denise (his lead hand at the stables), many nieces, nephews, students and friends. Pat worked at Norfolk Children’s Aid as a group home parent, and  Ministry of Corrections at Glendale prior to his 29 year employment at Stelco.  He  founded Rugged Cross Stables 25 years ago, having an avid love for horses, competing in horse shows, breeding sport horses, and watching his horse RCS Shadrach, who still competes to this day. He was known for his pitching ability in the 70’s when he played ball, in the Tri County Fastball League, for Port Dover, Jarvis J’s and Vittoria.  His love of helping others was evident in his mentoring riders at the horse stables, and then convening pickleball, and volunteering at the Simcoe Senior Center. He loved playing pool with his senior buddies, and playing golf at Port Dover and the Greens. He truly had a zest for life and lived his faith with intention. He loved his family, his friends and all his animals.  His precious kitties Lucy and Patches and a special dog named Maggie will miss him. It is with heavy hearts that the family of George Albert Doughty announces his sudden but peaceful passing on Friday, November 10, in his 69th year, at his home in Jarvis.  Beloved husband of Nancy Doughty (nee Cassidy).  Devoted father of Kate (Michael) Solomon and Michael Doughty.  Cherished Grandpa of Lucy Doughty and Carter and Blake Solomon.  George will be fondly remembered by siblings Brenda Doughty, Linda (Gord) Gill, Jim Cassidy along with many nieces, nephew and friends.  George is predeceased by his parents, George Sr. and Dorothy Doughty and in-laws Walter Sr. and Mildred Cassidy.  George was born in 1955, the youngest child and only son of George Sr. and Dorothy Doughty. George grew up on the family farm on Sandusk Road and co-piloted many trucking adventures with his dad. George attended Lambs Corners and Walpole South Schools.  From there, George went on to Hagersville Secondary School, where he met his high school sweetheart and wife of 48 years, Nancy. George and Nancy married in 1975 and spent their first years between Selkirk and Sweets Corners. In 1978, they welcomed their first child, Michael. Just a few short years later, in 1981, their daughter,  Kate arrived. In the summer of 1981, the family made their way to Jarvis, where home remains. George liked to stay busy, had several hobbies and was never short on  stories. He was particularly skillful when it came to creating. George could build anything and the final product was always beautiful! The early nineties was the introduction to the world of purebred dogs, where George along with Nancy, would meet life-long friends. Throughout the years, George enjoyed travelling to dog shows across Ontario, and as far as British Columbia. George was an avid camper and enjoyed as many excursions with Nancy and their grandchildren, as the seasons offered. George took great pride in the gardens, where he and Nancy would sit to enjoy quiet moments.  A very humble man, George took pride in his family, his home, his work and everything he pursued.  With a smile and no expectations, George was always ready to lend a hand, often to complete strangers. No task was too big.  George was a life-long truck driver, a career spanning more than 50 years. Driving was more than a job, it was a lifestyle. George started off driving a dump truck in the seventies. After the arrival of his son, George began driving for McBurney Transport, where he would remain for 30 years. From there and for the last 15 years behind the big wheel, George was a respected driver for L. F. Mattice Trucking, hauling agricultural products throughout southern Ontario and New York State. George’s love of life and people made him a quick friend and will be missed beyond measure. Our family is heartbroken to announce the unexpected passing of Valerie Anne Gee on November 9th, 2023. Dear daughter of Douglas and Bonita Gee (Topp). Loving sister of Andrea and Doug Wright, Treasured Aunt of Logan and Sydney Wright. Valerie will be forever missed by all of her numerous Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, friends, and forever best friend Christina Souter. She will forever be remembered for her kind heart, happy go lucky personality, her sense of humor, love of animals, and her beautiful smile. A private family service will be held. We will be there with you watching the sky at night for the brightest star, knowing that you are shining bright.

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Frederick Raymond Stevenson-Francis on November 7, 2023 at the Haldimand War Memorial Hospital. Survived by loving wife Alma and children, Cindy and Daniel. Grand children Christopher, David, Angela, Samantha, Danielle. Great grand children Victoria and Vincent. He will be greatly missed by Brother-in-law David and his wife Carol. Fred enjoyed his time volunteering for various associations in Selkirk. Born and raised in Toronto. Joined the Canadian Air Force which gave him a start for his career as a salesman of Lab Equipment to hospitals and Universities. Proud grandmother of Paige and Jillian La Fraugh. Carol will be missed by her siblings Dawn Reynolds (Mike Wilkins) and George(Norma) Reynolds.
