Denis Morissette of Townsend, formerly of St. Catharines, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 20, 2023 in his 88th year, at Gardenview LTC, Parkview Meadows,Townsend. Husband of the late Celine Morissette (nee Poirier). Loving father of Danielle and Steve Elliott, the late Richard (2017), Joanne and Chris Streutker and the late Lisa Morissette (2018). Dear grandfather of Ryan and (Shari) Streutker, Jeff and (Shylah) Streutker, Colin (Nikki) Streutker, Jessica and (Chris) Block, Melissa and (Shane) Lecates, Chantelle Moses, Chris Moses, and great grandfather of Josh, Kate, Anna, Jess, Wesley, Macie, Ariella, Emma and Jillian. Brother of Pierrette (Lucien) Richard and predeceased by his siblings Jean-Paul, Cécile, Mariette, Marcel, Jeannette, Roger and Jean-Claude. Denis was a pipefitting contractor in Local 628 of Thunder Bay and later owned a Motel Business. He took pride in his work and was a hard worker. A private family service was held at COOPER FUNERAL HOME, 19 Talbot Street West, Jarvis on Thursday, June 22. Interment Knox Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Jarvis. Peggy passed away peacefully at Grey Bruce Health Services, on Friday, June 30, 2023. Born on November 18, 1945, Margaret Rose Martin (née Hamilton) of Owen Sound, was in her 78th year. Loving mother of Carol, David and Rhonda. Proud grandmother of Greg, Stevie (Shaune), Kyle (Nikki) and great-grandmother of Easton, Lathan and Oliver. Dear sister of Danny Hamilton and sister-in-law of Mark Marsden. Peggy will be missed by her family and friends. Predeceased by her parents, Darrell and Margaret Hamilton (née Farnham), her life partner, Vaughn Baird, her sister, Anita Marsden and her former husband, Paul Martin. With heavy hearts we announce the sudden passing of Anne surrounded by her family, on July 1, 2023, at the age of 76. Anne will be lovingly remembered by her children, Allison Sladin (Sam) and Jason McAlpine (Jane). She was a cherished Grammie to Kally (Jared), Camryn (Colton), Aaron and Dominic. Anne was predeceased by her mother (Doris), brother (Russell), sister (Sharon), stepmother (Madeline), brother-in-law (Jim), father (Cameron), and brother (Dennis). She is survived by sisters Gail Simmons (Dave) and Marie Burke (George), sister-in-law Bette Eke (Dave) and Leo Maloney. Anne was a beloved aunt, great aunt and great, great aunt to many nieces and nephews. Anne will be sadly missed by her constant four legged companions, Muggins and Marley, who she spoiled rotten. Anne was a dedicated secretary at both Northview and Centennial Public Schools over her 31 year career. Even years after retiring she was still in contact with many of her former students and families. After retirement Anne stayed busy with volunteering at CYPRES, attending events at the Seniors Centre and even taking in several cooking classes. Anne wrote a cooking column for the Grand River Sachem and Haldimand Press for 43 1/2 years. She was known to share samples of her latest recipe (or even recipe flops) with many friends and local businesses in Caledonia and Hagersville. Anne’s family invites everyone to join them for a gathering. It is with very heavy hearts we announce the passing of Ruth Herkimer (nee Warring) peacefully in her sleep at Cedarwood Village Nursing Home on Saturday, June 24th at the age of 85 years, our angel has received her wings. Beloved Mom to Virginia Slack (Tim-deceased), Shirley Whitford (Dan), Vicki Train (Pat Legere), the late Robert Armstrong (Beth), Debbie Feeney (Ed), the late Mary Armstrong, and Steve Herkimer (Kate). Mom is predeceased by her parents Robert and Frances Warring, brother William Warring, sister Gloria Olsen (Harry-deceased) and survived by her much loved brother and sister-in-law Doug and Sharon Warring. Mom was Grandma-Grams-Gammy to 15 grandchildren and 19 Great-grandchildren for whom she spent countless hours at hockey arenas, ball diamonds and soccer fields to silently cheer for them in victory and defeat. Mom will be deeply missed by her nieces and nephews and also her in-laws that she always considered an important part of her life. The family would like to express their deep gratitude and thanks to the amazing staff at Cedarwood, their kindness, patience and understanding through some very difficult days will never be forgotten.As per Mom’s wishes cremation has taken place and a private family burial and Celebration of Life will take place at a later date. Passed away peacefully on Wednesday June 14, 2023 in his 90th year. Beloved husband of 65 years of Jean (Arnold); father of Karen Winegard (Ron), Susan Nash (Danny), and Barry Bennett (Sherrie); grandfather of Erin, Brandon, Dana, Amber, Kara and Karlyn; and great-grandfather of Kayla, Tyson, Lincoln, Paige, Maggie, Molly, Theo, Ainsley and Greycen. Survived by sister Marion Clements, brother Roy Bennett and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by parents Theodore and Beatrice (Philpot), brother Fred, and sisters Elsie, June, Hazel, and Jean. Harold joined the RCAF in 1955 and was stationed in England where he worked as an aviation controller. He retired from Dofasco in 1987 and spent over 20 summers fishing in Mattawa, Ontario. Harold was an avid sports enthusiast who spent many hours watching his favorite teams – Toronto Blue Jays, Montreal Canadians (and he was also a closet Maple Leaf fan). Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life was held on Saturday June 17th at the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 154 in Caledonia from 1 p.m. – 4 p.m.. Peacefully after a short illness at the Norfolk General Hospital, Simcoe on Monday, May 1, 2023. Drew Williamson, husband of the late Norma (nee Stire) in his 94th year. Beloved father of Debbie, Alan (Willy) and Eric and Rusty. Predeceased by his grandson Dustin. Drew will be greatly missed by his care-giver and friend, Chris Hutchinson. Drew co-founded Doughty and Williamson in Jarvis in 1950 and continued to be involved in the business until his passing. He was the longest-standing member of the Jarvis Lions Club with over 70 years of service and served as Club President and Deputy District Governor. He was a business partner with several others, helping to develop and operate various enterprises, always with the goal of improving his community. Drew sat on the West Haldimand Hospital Board of Directors for many years and was a life-long member of Knox Presbyterian Church in Jarvis. He was instrumental in getting the new Port Dover Marina started. Drew’s passions were varied, from boating to fishing to travel but always included family, friends or associates. Friends called at COOPER FUNERAL HOME, 19 Talbot Street West, Jarvis on Friday, May 5 from 6-8 p.m. and Saturday, May 6 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. The funeral service was held at the former Knox Presbyterian Church, 2058 Main Street North, Jarvis on Sunday, May 7 at 1 p.m. (The funeral service was live-streamed through the funeral home website for those who were unable to attend in person and the recording remains available online). Surrounded by the love of his family, Brian Jackson passed away at the age of 71 on May 15, 2023. Life partner of 51 years to Karin Jackson, father to his sons Ryan (Paula Hearn) and Curtis (Shivaan Burke), ‘Gramps’ to Josie Jackson-Burke, son of Iris and Clarence, brother-in-law, uncle, cousin and friend to many. He led a rich life filled with passions for cooking, classic cars, carpentry, fishing, the Leafs, the Jays, tennis, family and more. May 26 would have marked 20 years since Brian began his second career at Heaslip Ford, after retiring from a 30 year career at Stelco Steel. He was well loved and respected by his work families. Donations in Brian’s name are encouraged to Hagersville Food Bank, or West Haldimand General Hospital; may the care and compassion of its nurses and doctors (and the nurses of CBI Health) comfort others the way they did our family.
