BEAN, Joy Doreen (née Tippett)
January 4, 2026
Joy Doreen Bean, née Tippett, died with her family at her side and went to be with her Saviour on December 23, 2025, in Chilliwack, B.C. She was predeceased by her husband, Donald Bean, in 1999. Joy leaves behind her children, Dawn-Lynn Prediger (Peter), Bill Bean (Sheila), and Cheryl Jonsson (Jon); six grandchildren and their families, which include eight great-grandchildren; along with many nieces and nephews. Joy was born in Saint John, New Brunswick, on January 17, 1927, to Gordon and Madge Tippett. She graduated from nursing and married Don in June 1948. They travelled by train to southern Ontario, where they spent the rest of their married life. Joy’s life was characterized by her great love of people and a heart to serve others. The door of their home was always open to visitors, both young and old—strangers and longtime friends. She was eager to learn, participate, and encourage others. No situation was an impossibility when finding ways to meet someone’s needs, wherever she was. This inspirational woman loved to find humour in everything, sometimes to her embarrassment! She has left her legacy of unconditional love, laughter, and an example of how Jesus can transform a life. Joy was the world’s best mom and caregiver to her children and countless others. Thank you, Mom, for the laughter, the love, and memories of a life well lived! Joy’s Celebration of Life will take place on Sunday, January 18, 2026, at Seven Oaks Alliance Church, Abbotsford, BC, from 3 to 5 p.m. Our family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Waverly Seniors’ Village in Chilliwack for the memories, love, care, and patience they gave to Joy every day over the past year and a half.

PYKE, Jack
January 4, 2026
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our ‘Jack’ on December 27, 2025. Jack’s tremendous love of life and love of people were cut short 10 years ago when he began to suffer the effects of FTD, strokes in the frontal lobe of the brain – more commonly known to some as the ‘Bruce Willis’ disease…Jack leaves behind his wife, Theresa (nee Doyle) and his son John (Kait), who became his voice and strength as he walked loyally by his side through every step of this difficult, declining journey. Jack is predeceased by his parents, Tom and Reta Pyke, his father and mother-in-law Wm. and Mary Doyle. He also leaves behind his brothers Tom (Suzi), Tim (Donna), Dan (Eileen), his sister Mary Ann Edwards (Frank), his brothers and sisters-in-law Bill Doyle (Chris), Dan Doyle (Joan), Mary Gordon (†Drew), Robert Doyle (Kate) and Christine Brooks (Jamie). Jack loved to be in the company of his many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was proud of the years he played football at Ancaster High and the years he rowed with the Brock University Rowing Team. He was an avid reader, loved history books, could answer any history trivia question, loved all kinds of music, and could make any birthday a celebration when he belted out his renditions of Happy Birthday. When in the best of health, he was happy to travel from one side of Canada to the other in his transport truck. Jack had wonderful experiences and never hesitated to assist anyone in trouble along the way. Jack loved to spend time with his family and loved the Thanksgiving and holidays spent at the family cottage in Thessalon. He will be remembered for his annual around-the-campfire stories of Big Lou. We would like to thank Grandview Lodge for their care this past year. In lieu of donations, the family would appreciate that you make a simple kind gesture or to compliment someone to celebrate the living in memory of Jack’s way. Friends are invited to call at MILLER FUNERAL CHAPEL, 28 Caithness Street East, Caledonia on Sunday, January 11, 2026 from 1:30–4 p.m. Private family interment to take place at a later date in Thessalon. Friends and family are invited to send condolences and sign the Book of Memories at www.millerfuneralchapel.ca
