Surrounded by the love of his family, George Denton “Denny” Miller passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 9, in Stratford at the age of 86. He is survived by his beloved wife, Elizabeth Ann “Libby” (née Dowswell); his daughter, Jennifer Lynn Leung (Tony); his son, Geoffrey Laird (Katherine); granddaughters Lauren Elizabeth and Katelyn Maria; his sister, Nina Diane Newton of North Carolina; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father, Andrew Laird Miller; his mother, Mary Eleanor “Nellie”; his uncle, Cyril Herman “Cy” Saunders; and his sister, Nancy Ann Hardy. Born in Jarvis, Ontario, he attended Huron College and the Ivey Business School at Western University, graduating with a degree in Honours Business Administration and later acquiring the designation of Certified Management Accountant. He also joined the Sigma Chi Fraternity, forming lifelong friendships. Married for over sixty years to his wife Libby, Denny was a caring family man who enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. Always quick with a kind word, many laughs and good conversations were shared around the kitchen table. Enjoying every day of his working life, his fulfilling career took him to Procter and Gamble, Kroehler Manufacturing Ltd., Patton’s Place Ltd., and Hunter Steel Sales. He also served on several boards, including as President of the Stratford Chamber of Commerce and as a Regional Representative on the Ontario Chamber. He was a member of the Stratford Lions Club, a board member of Stratford L’Arche, a charter member of the Rotary Club of London South, and a Paul Harris recipient. He also served as Chairman of the Official Board of Metropolitan United Church in London. He enjoyed travelling with Libby and the family, and some of his greatest memories were made travelling with a group of friends to destinations around the world. He was an avid golfer, as well as a tennis and pickleball player, and spent many memorable hours with the Friday Lunch bunch and cycling with the “Wobbly Wheelers” in Stratford. The longtime bridge group was also a significant part of his and Libby’s social life.

A life well lived.
