May 1, 1921 – September 29, 2025 It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Shirley May Smith on September 29, 2025 at the age of 104. Cherished mother of Vaughn Smith (Linda; †2012) and Marlene Baird (Dan). Loving grandmother of Jason Campbell (Jennie), Stacey Levesque (Rob), and Ashley Rippey (Kevin). Loving great-grandmother of Alex Campbell (Hannah), Emily Campbell, Kyla Campbell, Graham Rippey, and Penelope Rippey. Loving great-great-grandmother of Tate Campbell. Shirley was predeceased by her beloved husband Clayton (†1986), her daughter Pat Jones (†2017) (Larry), her brother Chester Hyslop (†2016), and her parents Leslie and Janet Hyslop. Shirley enjoyed following the Blue Jays, loved to dance and party, played the organ, loved to curl, enjoyed travelling, and going to Muskoka, having her hair done, and always had room for sweet treats from Carluke Orchards. Friends were invited to call at MILLER FUNERAL CHAPEL, 28 Caithness Street East, Caledonia on Thursday, October 2, 2025 from 2 – 4 and 6 – 8 p.m. The service was held at Grace United Church, 174 Caithness Street East, Caledonia on Saturday, October 4, 2025 at 10:30 a.m. which lunch followed. Christina passed away peacefully with her family by her side at her home in Victoria, B.C. On July 30,2025 at the age of 65. She will forever be missed by her partner Robert Braaten, her son’s Jonathan, Jeremiah, and step-daughter Amanda and three lovely grandchildren. She will be fondly remembered by her siblings Gene (Lorrie), Henry (predeceased by Linda), Claire (Barry), Geraldine, Anna (Al) and Evert. Christina is also predeceased by her parents Evert and Anna, her brothers,Teddy, Andy, Harry, Nick, and Joe. Christina was kind and compassionate and it showed in her many years as a nurse’s aide. Christina will be sadly missed and always in our hearts. A celebration of life has taken place in Victoria B.C.

May 21, 1933 – September 26, 2025 Dolores May Carter (nee Heitman) passed away peacefully at Garden City Manor, St. Catharines on Friday, September 26, 2025 at the age of 92. Preceded in death by her most loving husband Howard Carter (November 2024), her first husband Thomas Firth (October 2000), as well as precious grandson Michael Smedley (December 1992), three of her brothers and three of her sisters. Dolores is survived by her three children – Rick, Kathy (Nick) and Randy (Minnie), her brother Larry (Dorothy) and her sister Joan (late Orval). Sweet, loving grandmother to Christine, Krista, Laura (Jeff), and Kelly (Joe). Cherished “Gigi” to AJ, Ryan, Mylah, Brielle, Peyton and Hudson. Also survived by Howard’s children Mildred (Dan), Adrian (Janet), Wendy (Steve), Sandra (Bill), Peggy (Gurmit), and his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Dolores will be very much missed by her many friends, former work colleagues, neighbors, and her church community. She was so blessed to find her partner Howard later in life, and the two of them enjoyed travelling together and visiting many beautiful destinations around the world. Her hobbies included crocheting, knitting, and cooking – she was an amazing chef! Cremation has taken place. Peacefully surrounded by his wife of 41 years, Christine (nee Nigh), and his beloved children, Brittany (Josh) and Jorden, Ken slipped into the arms of the Lord and began his everlasting reward on Sunday September 21, 2025, at the Norfolk General Hospital, Simcoe. Ken’s biggest joy in life was his three beautiful grandchildren: Joel, Mila and Sadie Sullivan. Nothing brought Pop more joy than spending time at the arena watching his boy play and making his precious girls laugh. They will miss him terribly. Predeceased by his parents, Gord and June Best, he will be dearly missed by his siblings: George (Cheryl), Joyce Ann (Roger), and Marie (Dave) Ken will be fondly remembered by his mother-in-Law Elinor, and Christine’s siblings Howie (Lisa), Lindi, and Heather (Paul), as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and his life long friends, Wayne and Larry. Ken and Christine were the owners of Christine’s Bakery in Jarvis, and he took pride in the meals he created for all their wonderful customers and enjoyed whipping up delicious treats that became his specialty. Ken loved his dogs, the Montreal Canadiens, and a good police show blasting on the TV at night. Our lives will all be a little less bright without him. Cremation has taken place. Murray Fleming passed away peacefully at West Haldimand General Hospital, Hagersville, surrounded by family, leaving behind a legacy of love, strength and devotion. He was the beloved husband of Anna, with whom he shared 70 wonderful years of marriage. Born and raised in Jarvis, Murray lived all of his 89 years in the community he loved. He proudly owned and operated Fleming Motors, served as a dedicated member of the Jarvis Lions Club, the Walpole Antique Farm Machinery Association, was a volunteer firefighter at Station 3 Jarvis for 39 years, was an elder at Knox Presbyterian Church for many years and sat on the Haldimand Hydro Commission. His commitment to family, friends, and neighbours was at the heart of his long and meaningful life. Murray will be deeply missed by his four sons—Gary (Marla), Wayne (Charlene), Bruce (Patti), and Gord (the late Carol)—and their families. He was a proud Papa to his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought him endless joy. Gary and Marla’s family includes Taryn (Colin) and their son Alton, as well as Noah (Brandi) and their daughter Annie. Wayne is the father of Katie (Jacob) and Nicole (Kyle) with their baby Georgia. Through Wayne’s partnership with Charlene, Murray’s life was further enriched by the presence of her daughters Tana (Miles) and their two children Cameron and Braeden, Baylee (Kieren) and their four children Paisley, Abram, Leighton and Spencer, all of whom he welcomed as part of his extended family. Bruce and Patti’s family includes daughters Jodi (Jon) with their children Nell and Perry, and Jill (Mike) with their children Kylie and Hayden. Gord was predeceased by his wife Carol, and Murray continued to hold close her daughter SarahJane and her son Mark (Kristi) and grandson Kaden. Predeceased by his siblings Alma Krauskopf, Earle and Harvey. His kindness, humour, and unwavering love for family will remain in their hearts forever. Beloved husband of Sylvia (nee Hampson) for 58 years, and together worked their dairy farm in York, Ontario. Loved father of Robin (Annette), Paul (Michelle), Karen Thomas (Duane) and Susan Cicero (Chris). Laurel Evelyn Balsillie, aged 84 passed away peacefully early September 14, 2025, at her home in Luther Village, Waterloo. She was born Nov. 4, 1940, to parents James and Evelyn Brown, growing up in Jarvis, Ontario. She was predeceased by her husband of 46 years Raymond James Balsillie and leaves to your care her children, David Balsillie (Kathy), Jim Balsillie (Neve Peric) and Carol Balsillie (Dennis Tam), and eight grandchildren, Joshua, Rachel, Patrick, Jamie, Heather, Emily, Meredith and Daphne. She was also blessed with two great-grandchildren, Rowan and Finola. In her final months, she was surrounded by her family and supported by the wonderful staff at Luther Village. We are eternally grateful for their care and dedication. Laurel was trained as a school teacher but also enjoyed a career as a bookkeeper in Peterborough while raising her family. After moving to Waterloo, she found special joy in her friends and pets and was blessed to be close by to watch Emily and Meredith grow up. The family will be celebrating Laurel’s life at a special tea service for her community and close friends to be held at Luther Village, 141 Father David Bauer Dr., Waterloo in the Muskoka Room on Saturday, September 20th at 1:30pm.
